Supporting and assessing the skills of those looking to further their careers can be both challenging and rewarding. If you’re considering developing your own career as an assessor, it’s understandable that you would want to get relevant qualifications to allow you to carry out the role in line with up-to-date accepted practice.

But with three assessor qualifications available through Otaquas Training, which assessor course is the right one for you?

What assessor qualifications are available?

We offer the CAVA Suite of three assessor qualifications, depending on your needs:

This course focuses on workplace assessment and provides skills to assess occupational competency of learners taking work-based programmes, such as apprenticeships, NVQs, some T Levels and Professional Diplomas.

The award consists of two units: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment and Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment.

Similar to the above award, this course shifts it's focus to assessment within educational settings such as in the college classroom or workshops.

It consists of two units: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment and Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding.

This is our most popular course - put simply, it combines the knowledge and performance units from the Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (RFQ), and the Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (RQF) to create the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, which covers assessments in both the workplace and educational spheres.

*If you already have one of either the level 3 assessment awards and just need to do an add on unit, we offer this opportunity so that, upon completion you will qualify for the fulll CAVA Certificate.

What is the best assessor qualification for me?

The best qualification depends on your work environment. If your learners are doing qualifications that are fully work-based, you will need to focus on a the Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (RQF).

If your learners are doing qualifications that only involve the learning environment, then you will need the Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (RQF) .

If your learners are doing qualifications that involve both work-place assessments and assessments within a learning environment, then you will need the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (RQF), as it provides a comprehensive perspective, and also maximises your employment opportunities by having the choice of working either setting,
