How does the Enhanced Level 3 AET differ from the standard AET?

As many who opt to take the AET usually go on to take the CAVA assessor courses at some point in their careers. We have streamlined this qualification to reduce work for future you, should you require to take the assessor course later on.

To achieve this, we have modified the Enhanced Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) whereby the 3rd unit of this award "Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment" has been streamlined to equally cover the requirements of a knowledge unit for the CAVA Assessor level 3 too.

What does this mean for me?

By choosing the Enhanced AET programme that includes the knowledge unit from the CAVA Assessor suite, you gain a valuable advantage if you decide to become an assessor in the future.

The knowledge unit, Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment, is a recognised unit within assessor qualifications. This means that if you later enrol on an assessor course, you will have already achieved this unit and can transfer (accredit) it towards your assessor qualification.

As a result, you would only need to go on to complete the two remaining practical assessment performance units of the CAVA assessor course later, avoiding having to answer very similar questions, saving both time and effort.

What are the units in the enhanced AET course?:

UNIT 1: Understanding the Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training (Unit reference: H/505/0053).

UNIT 2: Understanding and using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in education and training (Unit reference: D/505/0052).

UNIT 3: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment (Unit reference: (D/601/5313)

Key Benefits:

  • Gain your teaching qualification and assessor knowledge at the same time.

  • Achieve a unit that can be carried forward into a future assessor qualification.

  • Reduce future study requirements by completing the knowledge unit now.

  • Complete fewer written tasks through our integrated assessment approach.

  • Save time, effort, and potentially training costs in the future.

  • Keep your career options open in both teaching and assessment.

Whether your goal is to teach now, assess in the future, or simply broaden your professional opportunities, this enhanced AET pathway provides a smart and efficient route to achieving your qualifications.

Study once, benefit twice, and keep your progression options open.

How do I get onto the course?

Press the 'Start Now' button at the top or bottom of this page, you will be taken to our learning platform page, where payment is processed, user registration is made and course materials delivered in one easy step.

Just fill in the necessary details and proceed with your preferred payment plan. From here, you will gain instant access to your course material.

For more information or help, please contact one of our tutors at: info@otaquast.com

How is the course assessed?

You will be expected to plan and deliver a short 15 minute microteach session to at least two peers (can be friends, family or colleagues but not children). You have two choices - deliver your microteach in an online session, or video your microteach and send a link to your assessor.

You will also observe other candidates delivering their microteach and provide them with feedback.  If you don't want to attend an online session, your assessor will send you videos of 3 microteach sessions and you can observe them and complete appropriate peer feedback forms.

This is the only performance-based activity in AET the course.

How long will it take to complete the qualification?

You can complete the Enhanced Level 3 Award in Education and Training in as little as 6 weeks, depending on the time you have available.

You have 12 months, so you could spread the course through a longer period if you wish.

Good luck, we look forward to supporting you throughout your time with us.
